Christmas Lights Reimagined

There’s no hiding it – I just like playing with wires

This Christmas lights display started as just a little project of mine.
Originally it was just the window frames, which you can still see in use today. I wanted to make our Christmas lights a little bit more interesting so thought some electronics and a little touch of computer wizardry would do just that. 5 years later, it has only grown.
I now have thousands of computer controlled bulbs that cover the house, garden and driveway. Last year I started to sequence them to music rather than just programming some pretty patterns. Every night We would have loads of people visit To watch the show And I hope to continue that this december.

We’re trying to raise £1000 by christmas!

Back in early 2024 my dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. For him, that meant the rest of the year was spent having scans, blood tests and what was fortunately a relatively routine surgery. Thankfully, everything turned out OK as we were able to catch it early and treat in time. That being said it was definitely a stressful time and unfortunately, not everybody is as lucky as us.

That is why I dedicated the 2024 show and all shows going forward to Cancer Research UK, in the name of family members who cannot be with us this christmas and to help beat cancer.

Who am I?

My name is Toby…..

I’m your slightly nerdy 18 year old who loves an excuse for a little bit of electronics, networking, manufacturing and DIY or just an all round good weekend project.

Now on a broadcast engineering apprenticeship, I still wanted something to do on the weekends and these computer sequenced Christmas lights tick almost every box.
